Lion Aruna Abhey Oswal

Aruna Abhey Oswal from Gujrat, India, was elected to serve a two - year term as a director of Lions Clubs International at the association’s 99th International Convention held in Fukuoka, Japan, June 24 through 28, 2016. A member of the Baroda Stadium Lions Club since 2014, and a Lion since 1989, she has held many offices within the association, including district governor, LCIF multiple district coordinator, multiple district LCIF chairperson, board appointee and LCIF steering committee member. In recognition of her service to the association, she has received numerous awards, including the Friend of Humanity Award, two Extension Awards, five International President’s Awards and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor the association gives to its members. She is also a Humanitarian Partner and a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow. She has been honored with the “Life Time Acheievement Award” by the Mother Teresa International Committee and has received the Jain Ratna Award given by the Prime Minister of India. In addition to her Lions activities, Director Oswal is active in numerous professional and community organizations, including the World Council of Religion for Peace, the Loomba Foundation and the World Jain Confederation. Director Oswal and her husband, Abhey, also a Lions and a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, have one daughter, two sons and six grand children.

Lion Er. K. Dhanabalan,PMJF

Lion Dhanabalan has 25 glorious years of mentorship in his home club, Lions Club of Erode Supreme, which celebrates the silver jubilee year with 275 Lions. This progressive Melvin Jones Fellow is the architect of Erode Supreme Lions Blood Bank worth Rs.4 Crores and serves as the dedicated Chairman for a decade. As Governor, he set new trends in District activities and progammes and carved a niche of his own. A man with high potential & power to perform with perfection. He produced a movie on Lionism, a professional video on orientation, street plays, conducted a MEGA SERVICE PROJECT worth 1 crore, promoted more than 300 permanent community projects and projected Lionism among the public. All his service projects has a strong humanitarian appeal. He maintained transparency in accounts in all the responsibilities and stood as a symbol of purity. All district meetings were started and ended in time - every time. "Make an Impact" was his slogan and he made a double impact. This Multiple Trainer with many talents served as Multiple Leadership Chairperson, District Co-ordinator of Campaign SightFirst, 20K Team Co-ordinator, Retention Chairperson, set high standards in Leadership Training as the GLT Multiple coordinator and served as the Centennial Celebration Co-ordinator for the multiple 324. In recognition of his service to the association, he has received many awards at the Multiple and the International Level including Best Governor Award, International membership growth award, Five International Leadership medals, two International President Medals, six times and Intl. President's Awards, five times Intl. President's Appreciation Certificate. He always loves what he does. Serves as the Secretary for Erode District Football Association for the past 25 years, Trustee in Erode Sports Trust, Trustee in Greencity Institute of Leadership Training, Trustee in Erode Blood Donors Association & National Awareness Movement. A Treasurer in Erode Officers Club, Trustee & Past Secretary in Erode Builders Educational Trust Group of Institutions. Lion.K.Dhanabalan was born and brought up in a modest agricultural family. He leads a simple life but it is significant. His Leadership and Hardwork made him reach new heights, elected as the International Director for the year 2016-18. He is a professional Engineering graduate, a soccer player at university, a Jaycee trainer running an electrical business and mineral water plant. Married to Lion Sashikala, a trainer and a supportive Lion. Blessed with daughter Lion Aarthi, son in law Lion Vignesh and granddaughter Anvitha, leading a successful and happy family life.

Lion Sanjay Khetan

Sanjay Khetan is from Birganj, Nepal & was elected to serve a two-year term as a Director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 98th.International Convention held at Honolulu, Hawaii on June 26-30, 2015. Director Khetan is an engineer and a businessman. A member of the Birganj Adarshnagar Lions Club since 1993, Director Khetan has held many offices within the association, including Club President, Region chairperson, District Governor and Multiple District Council Chairperson. He has also served as GLT Area Leader of MD 315, 322 & 325. He has also served as Organizing Committee Chairperson of 41st. ISAAME Forum held at Kathmandu, Nepal. He has served as Grant Administrator of many projects including major projects like Measles Rubella Campaign & Major Catastrophe Grant towards Earthquake in Nepal. He has been leading the dramatic growth of membership which leads 200+% growth of membership in 7 years. In recognition of his service to the association, Director Khetan has received numerous awards, including a club president award, a region chairperson award, Seven International President’s Medals and ten International President’s Certificates of Appreciation. He is a Melvin Jones Fellow. He has also been awarded Ambassador of Goodwill award by Lions Clubs International. In addition to his Lions activities, Director Khetan has been active in numerous professional and community organizations, including life member of Nepal Heart Foundation, Nepal Red Cross Society, Nepal Engineers Association. He is Charter President of Nepal Engineers Association, Birganj Chapter. He is also director of Asia Medical College and Birganj Institute of Technology. Lion G.S. Hora

Lion G.S. Hora, Past District Governor was elected to serve as International Director at the 2015 Honolulu Convention of the International Association of Lions Clubs. He is a Chartered Accountant by profession with contribution in diverse fields. Joined Lionism as Leo in 1981 and became a Lion in 1985 as a member of Lions Club of Siliguri Greater. Born in Siliguri on 12th July, 1959 Lion Hora was a bright student. As a Boy Scout he was awarded the President Scout Certificate by V.V. Giri the then President of India. He won the National Scholarship in graduation and was awarded a Gold Medal in Law. He was Hony. Lecturer in Law Department in University of North Bengal for 18 years, associated with real estate business and runs a degree college at Siliguri. He served as District Governor of District 322-F in 2001-02 and thereafter in various positions including Multiple Council Treasurer, Multiple P.R.O., Sector Coordinator - CSF II for 3 years and as Multiple Coordinator Sight First and LCIF for 7 years. He has enormous contribution in streamlining the working of LCIF in MD 322 which includes bringing new grants for projects, organizing SightFirst and LCIF Conclave in a professional manner. Apart from LCIF he has keen interest in leadership programs and has served as faculty at Regional Lions, Emerging Lions, Senior Lions, All India DG-VDG School and Faculty Training Institute. He is a graduate of the Faculty Development Institute. He is Founder Trustee cum Treasurer of Eastern India Lions Leadership Academy and Lions MD 322 Service Trust. He is a major donor to CSFII. He has been recognized iwith many awards including 9 International President Medals. He has participated in variously assemblies of Lions Including 9 Area Forums and 7 International conventions. President of Siliguri Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee since 2002, Lion Hora, was Chairman of CII of North Bengal during 2008 -10. He is Managing Committee Member of Siliguri ITI and Siliguri Polytechnic and had been Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Siliguri Branch, and Vice President of Siliguri Taxation Bar Association. He has led Siliguri Greater Lions Eye Hospital as Chairperson for 4 years and is presently the Advisory Committee Chairperson. His wife Ruby is actively engaged in Lionism. She is the Past President of Lions Club of Siliguri Greater Femina and also serves on the District Cabinet

Lion N.S. Sankar

Chairman, Bharath Swift Logistics Pvt. Ltd., Joined Lionism in the year 1986 and later became the Charter President, LC Sterling Avenue in 1992. Served the District in various capacities. His book on Road Safety won him International President's acclaim. A PMJf - with 10 Diamond Pin - 20 years Chevron N.S. Sankar had won seven International President's Certificates of Appreciation, International Leadership Award and International President's medallion, twice. He was the Secretary for MD 324 Tsunami Disaster Relief Committee. For his good work in tsunami related activities, he was presented with "Friend of Humanity" Award by Lions International in the year 2006 and Helping Hand Award in 2007. Established a permanent project of 4000 Sq. Ft. Community Hall at Pudupet village, near Sunguvar Chatram. In memory of his mother, he had constructed a Library of 700 Sq. Ft., a Centre for Educating Rural Masses. He served as a Member of Credential Committee for the International Convention held in Boston in 2006, a member of Nomination Committee for the International Convention held in Chicago in 2007, and a member of the Election Committee in the year 2010 for the International Convention held in Sydney. An ace trainer trained at FDI held in Addis Ababa in 2006. As Multiple Leadership Chairman, was involved in conducting Training Program for the District Governors, Vice District Governors, and others at various levels. Lion R. Murugan

Lion R. Murugan joined the movement as a Leo in 1970 and became a member of the Lions Club of Trivandrum Host - a club that has celebrated Golden Jubilee in 2012. A graduate in Civil Engineering, Lion Murugan joined his father in his construction business. Since 1939, many of the landmark buildings in Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala, proudly bear the insignia of PRS Builders. A successful businessman, Lion Murugan is the Chairman and CEO of the reputed PRS Group of concerns engaged in the areas of Construction, Health Care, Education and Hospitality. Lion Murugan has held many offices at club level, served as Chairpersons of District, Zone and Region and also as the Cabinet Treasurer - all with the credit of being the best in the Multiple District. While he was the District Governor of District 324 E1, presently 318 A, in 2004-2005, Lion Murugan could activate the lions in the District with his motivating slogan: "Colouring Lives". The International President honoured him with 100% District Governor's Award. His dream project - "Lions Bhavan" in Trivandrum, an LCIF aided project - was visualized, constructed and inaugurated within the year of his Governorship and Lion Murugan continues to be its Executive Director. Lions Bhavan is now a home for the Alzheimer's (Dementia) patients, a Vocational Training Centre for Autistic children and a Geriatric Clinic. As Sector Co-ordinator for Campaign SightFirst II, Lion Murugan supported LCIF by enrolling more than 200 Melvin Jones Fellows.Serving as the Global Membership Team Coordinator of Multiple District 318, Lion Murugan could set an all time record in membership growth, an amazing 8% every year. He is a regular faculty in the schooling for District Governors and Vice District Governors. In recognition of his services, six International Presidents honoured Lion Murugan with their awards including the Founder's Membership Growth Award for two years. Lion Murugan has also made significant contributions to the welfare of the society. He is actively involved in many social, cultural and professional organizations like the Institution of Engineers, Chamber of Commerce, Vanchi Poor Home, Sri Swati Tirunal Sangita Sabha etc. He was the National Vice President of the Builders Association of India. Hewas a Senate Member of the University of Kerala during 2010-14. Lion Murugan was the Secretary cum Treasurer of the Lions Co-ordination Committee of India (LCCI) during 2013-14. He was elected for the high office of the International Director 2014-16 at the International Convention at Toronto, Canada in July, 2014. Lion Murugan is happily married to Lion Prema who is also an Engineer and business Partner. Both are Progressive Melvin Jones Fellows and they are blessed with one daughter - Krishna, two sons - Sabari andMithun and three grandchildren.

Chairperson, Chigurupati-Kambhampati Youth Academy Lion Varaprasad Chigurupati of Vijayawada, India was elected to serve two-year term as a director of the International Association of Lions Clubs at the Association’s 86th International Convention. A member of the Vijayawada Velagapudi Rama Krishna Nagar Lions Club since 1985, Director Varaprasad has held many offices within the association, including Club President, District Governor and Multiple Council Treasurer, additionally he has served as chairperson for both the Lions District Service Trust and the Lions District Office Trust. He has received numerous awards, including the Club Best Lion Award, 100% Attendance Awards, the Best Lion of the District Award, several International Awards including the “Ambassador of Goodwill Award”, the highest honour the association gives to any Member. He has contributed to the Nation Building Program. He was elected as a member of the A.P. Legislative Council from the Graduates Constituency. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow and major Donar CSF-II. He attended 7 International Conventions and several ISAAME Forums. In addition to his Lions activities, Past Director Varaprasad is active in numerous professional and community organizations, including serving as principal of the Sri Krishnaveni Educational Academy in Vijayawada and as Chairperson of Janakishan Sansthan in Hyderabad. In the Past, he served as secretary of the Teaching Staff Association at VRS Engineering College in Vijayawada and as chairperson of the Students Union at JNTU Engineering College in Anantpur.
